The Entente Mulhouse Kingersheim Handball Club (EMK) emerged from the partnership between HBC Kingersheim and the Entente Mulhouse, both key players in women’s handball in the Grand Est region. HBC Kingersheim, founded in the 1960s, initially featured both men’s and women’s teams, but it was the women’s section that saw rapid growth. By the 1980s and 1990s, the club’s investment in youth development helped its women’s team rise through the national ranks, building a reputation in regional and national competitions.
The formation of EMK Handball Club through this partnership strengthened the club’s competitiveness, particularly in youth development. With U16 and U17 teams excelling at both regional and national levels, EMK has solidified its position as a hub for developing women’s handball talent. The club remains deeply connected to its community, while continuing to work toward its long-term goal of reaching the highest divisions of French women’s handball.
EMK Handball Club has a proud history of achievements, particularly in nurturing young talent and competing at high levels. The club’s U17 team has reached the prestigious France Championship, a significant accomplishment that showcases the quality of its training programs. Meanwhile, the U16 team consistently competes at the highest regional level, further highlighting the club’s commitment to developing future stars of French handball.
HBC Kingersheim was established in the 1960s, originally featuring both men’s and women’s teams. Over the decades, it became evident that the women’s section would play a pivotal role in the club’s identity. By the 1980s and 1990s, thanks to structured training programs and investments in youth development, the women’s team steadily ascended through the national ranks. Their growing success brought regional and national recognition to the club, even though they had not yet broken into the highest professional leagues.
In a bid to enhance the competitiveness and development of women’s handball, HBC Kingersheim entered into a landmark agreement with the Entente Mulhouse, merging resources, coaching expertise, and infrastructure. This move laid the foundation for the formation of the EMK Handball Club. With this agreement, the newly formed club has been able to offer more opportunities to young talent, field stronger and more competitive teams, and foster an environment of high-level training for its players.
Over the years, EMK’s women’s teams have consistently performed at both the regional and national levels. The U16 and U17 teams are notable success stories, with the U17s competing in the prestigious France Championship, showcasing the club’s ability to develop high-caliber players. Meanwhile, the U16s continue to excel at the highest regional levels, further emphasizing the club’s strong foundation in youth development.
Throughout its history, EMK has remained deeply connected to its local roots. The club is not just a sporting institution but a pillar of the community in the Mulhouse and Kingersheim regions. By actively participating in local events and promoting women’s sport, the club has inspired many young girls to take up handball, contributing to the growth of the sport in the region.
EMK Handball Club continues to aspire towards greater achievements. The long-term goal remains to propel its women’s team to the top national leagues, with hopes of eventually competing in the Women’s Handball League (LFH). Through its strong partnership, focus on youth development, and community engagement, EMK is well-positioned to achieve new heights in French handball.
